Born in 1993, Chang Yu-Hsien holds a master’s degree in Painting from the Department of Fine Arts at National Taiwan Normal University and currently lives in Changhua.

Painting on the thematic formats of classical shunga (erotic paintings), each of Chang’s works is constructed around an underlying narrative. Through emotionally charged currents of desire and the sculptural beauty of the male body, his paintings merge these elements with a realist style that carries a distinct East Asian sensibility unique to the artist. Beneath the surface, subtle undercurrents of same-sex intimacy and metaphors of sexual orientation and identity emerge vividly, animating the canvas with quiet yet palpable intensity.
