Originally trained and working in graphic design, Huang Jen-Chieh later returned to craftsmanship out of a desire to create with his hands. He apprenticed under his father to learn metalworking techniques and subsequently established the brand Dan Zhou. In addition to jewelry design and reconstruction, he continues to create sculptural works whenever time and space allow.

His works combine metal craftsmanship with raw minerals, infusing materials with lived experiences and vitality. Through making, Huang seeks to understand both others and himself, continuously exploring the essence of life. Natural minerals often serve as symbols of personal pursuit, while insect forms—crafted through metal sculptural techniques—reflect repetitive, instinctive acts of gathering. These meticulous and delicate works function as a quiet record of the artist’s creative journey.
