Born in 1989. Okayama Japan. Graduated from the Faculty of Arts at Kurashiki University of Science and the Arts.
Hiromi paints images that resemble characters and plants floating in real landscapes. The backgrounds depicted are mostly disaster-stricken areas in Okayama, her hometown, while the characters are portrayed as the ideal representation of humanity. Characters are depicted with only their faces because they do not require a physical body. These characters may appear human-like at first glance, but they not only represent the human form as the “ideal,” but also embody the manifestations of nature, such as a “peaceful life” or the “mountains” and “sea.”
Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, dots have been added to cover the characters’ faces in her artwork. This represents the emergence of the disconnect between human actions and the “ideal” in a world marked by the spread of fake information through social media and conflicts like the one in Ukraine.
