Lives and works in Seoul, South Korea

MomoKim is a South Korean artist who graduated from the School of Visual Arts in New York City in 2016 with a degree in Illustration. She then completed the Modern Art & Art Market program at Christie’s Education in New York City in 2017 and received her Master of Fine Arts degree from the Academy of Art University in California in 2018. After graduating, she worked in New York and Nha Trang, and is currently based in Seoul.
MomoKim’s work is characterized by bright and colorful colors and kitschy images. Her paintings depict the lives of the many cities she has lived in, and reveal her attitude towards “life” through a variety of worldviews, including works that use contemporary digital devices. In particular, she reinterprets everyday landscapes with her own romantic perspective, and conveys a message of happiness that makes viewers think of dreams and hope. In addition, she expresses her personal and social memoirs in a positive language in the midst of a society where individualism is rampant and human relationships are unstable. She wishes for the well – being of everyone, including herself, and works to represent the generation and evoke the empathy of those living in the contemporary world by considering images exposed in the media as “found images.”
